And we thought...

We thought that certain things like numbers, tangible recognition and accolades matter not. We found great peace and happiness in the passion we poured into Alvibest. It is amazing how pouring out can fill one with such joy and bliss.

But then came along a day when we crossed the 10 subscribers mark. Hmmm
Then the 20 subscribers mark...
For strange historic reasons the 25 subscriber mark was more thrilling than the 24, 26, and 29 subscriber marks.
30 and 40 came and went by unnoticed. Well, not entirely...
And then we crossed the 50 subscriber mark last night, and we were happier than seeing the SENSEX soar. Honestly, a 50 has no significance greater than a 49, but we were simply overjoyed and were busy shooting out mails to friends and telling them about this achievement. And I would call it just that. It really is an achievement. Not for the people involved but for Alvibest. Alvibest's subscription base seems to be entirely filled with people who enjoy English literature and this has been achieved without any publicity per se. By sheer word of mouth from one aficionado to another, Alvibest is where it is.
We are still taking our first few steps and this isn't hubris that laces our joy today. We are humbled by the sheer Force that brought Alvibest to 50 subscribers in about half a year and 3 issues. We doubled in 3 months. So many good things happened in the past few months...

But one thing remains. We love what we are building. We love what is getting built. We love the way it is transforming us...

Do stay with us on this journey...

Of course! We all would...And in this journey of Alvibest, mystically enough, every step is the destination, isn't it?

Congratulations on reaching the great landmark of 50 subscribers!

Your well-wishers' hearts will be greedy for more such celebrations - reaching the 500 mark, 1000, (are we speaking about the sensex by any chance...naaaw of course not...), and other head-spinning milestones.

All luck and best wishes to the Lady of the Hour Alvibest!

A Literary magazine that aspires to be Granta of India needs contributions of quality and the eye of an editor with a high degree of taste.
You are far far away from that level of quality. I hope you get better with time. Mediocrity threatens.
Seriously.

Dear Baejaar,
Thanks for your wishes. We will surely work towards delivering quality issues.

Dear Anonymous,
A name would help for there is nothing to fear out here. I would like to know whether you subscribe to Alvibest. If you do, then we could engage in a discussion (and, being a subscriber, you would know how to start that) about what is lacking and how we can modify our focus. We have a lot to learn from informed individuals who have read Alvibest.
If you do not subscribe to Alvibest, then I am sure you too will realise that your comment is baseless which is demonstrated at the very outset: We never claimed to want to be like Granta! :-) We have been inspired by Granta and a few others which is different from aspiring to be like them.
As I have said earlier, it is important to be specific (in praise and criticism alike) and avoid seeking pleasure in blanket statements which seem to stem from ignorance.
